Madea's Big Happy Family

Another Hit for Tyler Perry & MaDea!

MaDea’s Big Happy Family is another triumphant project for Tyler Perry.  He repeatedly brings to the screen, issues that once were too private for individuals and families to deal with openly.  His ability to deal with multiple but substantial plots that tie into the major plot of the film is amazing.   Of course his use of humor and drama strike the perfect balance for the film.  While audience members will laugh, cry, and laugh til they cry, they will still walk away discussing some pretty serious issues perhaps within their own families and certainly the larger community.
In this flick, Perry brings together an all-star cast which includes veteran actress Loretta Devine, Shad Moss (aka Bow Wow), David and Tamela Mann, Cassi Davis, Natalie Desselle, and Teyana Taylor.  While those are names or faces audience members will recognize, Perry also brings to the screen some less known actors and actresses that do a fantastic job in their roles.  Both Bow Wow and Teyana Taylor deliver stunning performances.  As Bow Wow fine tunes his craft, I am certain we will see more of him in action, comedy, and dramatic performances.
Many people may not know Teyana Taylor but this young lady has been around the industry for quite some time now.  Behind the scenes and in front of the camera, she has a very impressive presence.  Her role here is reminiscent of the role of Angela, played by Tasha Smith, in Why Did I Get Married & Why Did I Get Married II.  A little over the top and annoying at times, I am sure each of us can say she reminds us of some ghetto chick we’ve come across at some point or another.  If nothing else, who didn’t leave the theatre repeating her wild way of saying…Byraaaaaaaaaaaan?  Perry is known for launching careers and making household names of newcomers to the stage and screen.  I can’t imagine anything less will happen with the cast this time around.
As always, MaDea’s unique way is dispensing wisdom aids in healing this family.  Perry consistently stands on his belief system and doesn’t neglect the acknowledgement of God in his work.  Believers and nonbelievers alike will have to admit that while he uses humor, he respects the church, the word of God, and basic morals and values that traditionally have held families together.
All in all…this film was HOT!
